Streamline Clothing & Toys

· Make colors and styles easy to mix & match

· Keep only what is currently in use

· Store or pass on what doesn’t fit or is rarely worn

· Pre-plan outfits for the entire week

· Decide how many toys & books can comfortably be enjoyed

· Rotate them out

· Encourage children to donate to the less fortunate

· Take them with you when you donate

Right-size the furniture and accessories

· Install lower closet rods & shelves

· Use high spaces for out-of-season, rarely used, or rotated items

· Select furniture that is the right size and shape

· Use vertical space on walls and incorporate lots of hooks

Containerize to keep in place

· Put like things together

· Use small containers for small items and large containers for large things

· Make sure that the containers can be easily handled by children

· Use rolling carts, stacking bins, clear plastic shoe & sweater boxes

· Have children help you label

· Use pictures for labeling when appropriate

· Encourage a 3-toy rule to help control the clutter
